Captain Frederick Pabst Mansion is an 1892 Flemish Renaissance mansion, constructed for beer baron Captain Frederick Pabst with 37 rooms, 12 bathrooms, and 14 fireplaces, completely wired for electricity, had full indoor plumbing, and cutting edge central heating, complete with 16 thermostats.
Discovery World at Pier Wisconsin features interactive exhibits, laboratories and areas to explore energy, water and modern medicine with lots of high-tech resources used to transport guests into virtual simulations. Marine and fresh water aquariums mimic environments from Wisconsin to the Caribbean.
Milwaukee Public Museum has over 5 million exhibits ranging from dinosaurs and bugs, to life in a European Village and life in turn-of-the-century Milwaukee. Patrick and Beatrice Haggerty Museum of Art with over 4300 works, the museum can display only a portion of the collection at any given time, but some of the highlights include works by Jacob Lawrence, Max Lieberman and Salvador Dali. Special exhibits have featured pieces by Marc Chagall and Auguste Rodin.
Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum built in 1923 in the style of a 16th-century Italian villa, features original furnishings, art and antiques, including a wonderful collection of cast and wrought iron works by noted Milwaukee blacksmith Cyril Colnik. Designed by noted landscape architect Ruth Standish Nichols, the lovely grounds were based on an actual Italian garden.
